No Flow Area

So the thaw is upon us, the gutters are telling me so, as the house is the source of a hundred drips. The roofers must be rubbing their hands in glee.

Not so in deepest Colinton, where a stretch along the Water of Leith was still frozen, the air was perishing and any pretty steps down were somewhat precarious as I held on to the railings for dear life.

The water was flowing very slowly, if at all; this blip shows that most of the weir was at a standstill with only a small amount of water getting through. It was quite extraordinary and very beautiful.

In my no-eating mode today following yesterday's gluttony, I have just wolfed down a huge Chinese takeaway.
