40 Year Calendar
One of the many gifts the over generous Holly Synot send me while she’s in ol’ London town included this paper weight/40 year calendar. By aligning the year with the current month the days of the week line up with the appropriate numbers to show you the date. As you can see it is corrected lined up to show the 9th of June 2014 is a Monday. It is also the queens birthday, which is a another way of saying public holiday!
Melbourne turned it out for it too, the weather was beautiful. After finishing work I had to go experience the loveliness of the day and as it was perfect running weather that was clearly the answer. It was a really nice run, one where I didn’t push myself to much, other than completing the full 10k. What was really nice about it was every out enjoying the beautiful weather and their day off. I’ve never see so many people on my running track and it was one of those days where everyone seems to be in a good mood. The highlight of it came as I was returning home and passing through a park. A little boy was beside the path in front of me and was slowly walking towards me while counting aloud his footsteps. Behind him his parents, who were watching him on a park bench, waited until they were out of his peripheral vision and then excitedly jumped up to both hide behind a tree! Surly that must be one of the best things about being a parent, the opportunity to reconnect to our own childhoods and act like kids again. I continued running past them and couldn’t help but smile as I heard behind me a little boy’s voice yell out ‘I can see you, you know’.
It would have been a nice moment to capture on film, or I suppose more correctly, megabytes, but I haven’t been able to think of an easy way to take my camera with me while running other than just holding it, which gets pretty annoying. However I think my 40 year calendar works pretty well in a pinch, so thank you to Holly for giving it to me, also now the rest of you know not to bother buying me a calendar for at least the next 40 years.
