Let's have a heated debate

Got arse into gear early doors and made a very extravagant purchase. Will be lying to mates about the cost. But hey, I'm worth it. Gulp.

Went out for a walk late afternoon. The thaw had started, but not really where I was. The wind is BITTERLY cold. And the snow-that-was-snow-became-ice-was-snowed-on-top-of-thawed-refroze-became-ice-and-then-got-snowed-on-again snow has the consistency of 12 inches of crumbly tablet. Not easy for either of us to walk/slide through.

In my lifetime I have been listened to/been involved in debates in all manner of contentious subjects (much like many of you here on blips I would imagine;

should we join the Euro
should smoking be banned
is there a god*
should we get out of the Common Market (yes The Oldies still call it that)
what was so wrong with the poll tax
did Yoko change the history of music
is the Da Vinci Code worth reading
is Gordon Brown any good
is global warming a myth
should we allow mass immigration
should Fred Goodwin be strung up


But today's debate about clearing snow from the pavement outside one's house was more heated than any of the above. Should you shovel snow? Does salt make any difference? Should it be left as it is? What about that bloke up the road that shovelled it into the road, that's not right is it MAiT? blah blah blah.
