Day 54: Austin, TX withdrawals
All the rain and time locked indoors has really got me missing ATX. Having lived in Austin my entire life (minus the first eight months) I always thought that this city was a little overatted. That is until Stephen, Pres and I moved to AR. Suddenly, I am able to see what a beautiful and special city it really is. There is always something to do and the atmosphere and people are incomparable. Don't get me wrong, Arkansas is starting to grow a soft spot in my heart too (especially the people and beautiful scenery) but we have been sssoooo bored lately. It doesn't help that we've been watching the X Games which happen to be in Austin this year. Other things I'm missing are...
Our families
Having babysitters (we haven't been on a single
date since moving here)
Brushy Creek Park
Zilker Park
Lakeline mall (hard to believe, I know. But there aren't any nearby malls here and on rainy days, Preslee used to love going to the FREE play area there. Here, there's no free indoor entertainment for kids that I know of)
Thunderstorms without having to keep an eye out for tornados. I used to think tornados were really cool until I had a child ;)
Believers Church
HEB and Buddy Bucks
Mozarts
Buffalo Exchange
Easy access to "The Rocket Summer" shows
My old coworkers at ARL
Lady Bird Lake
The Oasis
Preslee's daycare friends
Free drinks at the Starbucks I used to regular (that Stephen worked at)
The Domain
South Congress
Emos
Toy Joy (although I heard that it might have gone bankrupt? Say it isn't true!!!)
Mount Bonnell
There are so many other things but the point is, Austin is the bomb. Though I'm a little homesick I wouldn't wish to be anywhere but where I am right now....exploring a new place, meeting new people, and learning who I am as a mom and wife with no distractions. God has us here for a reason and I'm so thankful for the opportunities that he has given us. I'm also thankful for my newfound appreciation for Austin's awesomeness and can't wait to visit the 512 in a week!
