Surprise, surprise!

Pretty cake for a lovely friend.
Today we travelled (in torrential rain) to our friends in The Cotswolds to help Pauline celebrate a milestone birthday. Paul had arranged a surprise lunch for her in a pub-restuarant and it was attended by a few old friends, most of whom had been neighbours at some time. When we all went back to their house two sons, two d-i-ls and six grandchildren had arrived and the party continued for a long time. Two of the granddaughters had arrived on horseback! The children loved the firework on top of the cake. The cake was decorated with gardening symbols including yellow gardening gloves and a watering can.
The birthday was well and truly celebrated with surprise after surprise.
