Hay making the old fashioned way.
Today the sun shone on the Fife Vintage Agricultural Machinery Club's Annual Rally with its theme this year Hay Making. Choosing a blip has not been easy as I took well over 200 photos! - the 1898 Marshall Steam Traction Engine was a strong contender belching out steam as it powered a huge stationary baler ( a sight probably not seen in this country since the 1940s)
It was lovely to see the horses being used as they would have been before the era of tractors, working hay mowers and several other ingenious pieces of hay making equipment but it was equally lovely to see the old tractors too.
Having been brought up on a farm I liked this old Dickie Hay Turner many of which were converted to be drawn by a tractor and I have happy memories of driving an old grey Fergie pulling just such a hay turner when I was a school boy.
