Great Crested Grebe

After spending much of the day indoors I ventured out for some fresh air during a couple of hours of respite from the rain at about 4pm.

I thought all the birds were well into rearing their young but I spotted this grebe and she had three tiny new young. You can just about see one head popping out here. She did keep ejecting them onto the lake but they kept scrambling back on board. It was quite amusing to watch.
