I picked my better half up after work by the clydeside and saw this statue which I have never really paid attention to. I have certainly heard the quote before which is inscribed below it

"BETTER TO DIE ON YOUR FEET THAN LIVE FOR EVER ON YOUR KNEES"

I don't know much about the lady who said it but I will find out when I have more time.
