Heading to the Window

An early start for a glorious day on the hills, Creag Meagaidh and one of it's neighbours to be precise from Loch Laggan.
The approach is up a valley where the woodland is being allowed to regenerate naturally and over the past 20 years we have visited at intervals and seen the progress. Today 10 of us set out in sunshine and stopped at a lochan under big cliffs that provide winter routes and are un-guessed at if you just travel along the Loch Laggan road. Then a steep climb over, and then above, snow to reach the Window - a narrow valley out past the cliffs - and further climbing onto the summit plateau and along to the top. It continued mainly sunny and was quite breezy, but as we ate our lunch on the top the wind got considerably stronger and it was bent-over walking some of the time back to the Window.
There are several options for descent, some were ruled out by the strength and direction of the wind as they were above cliffs, but we decided to try the route over 2 more Munros which is to the right of the picture. We made it to the first one but most of us decided the wind would make the walk along the top very hard (it was sideways) so went back the way we came up (and had another chance to laze by the lochan) though 3 hardy folk braved the elements and met us back at the cars.
It was 21k and 1100m of ascent, and more of each for the 3.
Some lovely flowers around, too.
