The Barn Owl
The rain that was forecast for today didn't last long - we had very heavy rain and thunder first thing, although it soon cleared up and the sun came out.
After breakfast, we walked over to the Lido where there was a heritage day/wine festival to raise funds for the proposed renovation work. There were lots of food stalls and entertainment, including Punch & Judy, and there was also an owl sanctuary there. We were allowed to hold the owls and they were very gentle, although the little owl that I held who was called Cher, had killed Sonny because he tried to mate with her! Of them all though, I loved the barn owl.
We then got the bus into town and went to Alfresco for lunch, sat on the terrace overlooking the beach. Then it was onto Choccywoccydoodah for coffee and cake for Andy's belated birthday treat, although I refrained from the cake! We had a walk on the pier and then walked from the pier to the marina and had a drink on the terrace at Cafe Rouge. It's been a really lovely day, and I think Karen & Andy really like Brighton.
We didn't get home until about 8pm, and are now enjoying champagne and macarons - we're all a little sunburnt and quite tired after all the sea air, food and wine.
I hope you're having a good weekend!
Thank you for putting my veteran on the spotlight yesterday
