Flashbacks at Cathedral

I participated at an Ordination Mass in Cork's North Cathedral today. Ben Hodnett from the Cathedral Parish was ordained a priest of our diocese by Bishop John Buckley. He becomes the youngest priest in our shrinking group!
A lot of my mind was connecting with the same spot where I knelt 29 years this day also when I was ordained - and by the same bishop too!
The chalices used at the Mass all tell a story going back centuries. They all date from different eras.
Ben has stepped into that historical narrative, too. Many things have changed but the core source is unchanged.
