horns of wilmington's cow

Well the sun came out for our last day on Harris. We headed to Luskentyre, but rather than turning left and walking the massive expanse of sandy shoreline, it was a right turn to go an explore the rocky shore. We've seen otters here before, and it seems a good spot as after having a seat to have something to eat and watch the sea, just as we were bait to head back, an otter on the hunt described a lovely arc around us in the water, maybe 150-200 yards away. Way too distant for a decent photo, but through the binoculars and the telephoto we were both able to watch him gnawing away on a fish he'd caught.

He headed further along the shore to where we'd lost sight of him, but sadly no more views on offer. Instead we found a little sandy bay all to ourselves for a paddle (somewhat different from Luskentyre onto which not long after we arrived appeared to be disgorged a minibus of day-trippers, some of whom dressed for a night on the town).

Quiet when we got back though, second paddle of the day, sun caught, holiday pretty much done, reality beckons.
