Thank you
Where do I begin to say thank you to those brave men and boys who landed in Normandy 70 years ago today?
I have listened to many Veterans today on the radio.
Whilst they have talked openly about friends and general things.
But what has struck me most is the things they haven't said. They have kept their dignity and spared us the details if the true horror they undoubtedly saw.
70 years ago today, one of the greatest men I have every had the opportunity to know, landed in France.
That great man is my Father in Law. He is no longer with us and he took his secrets to his grave thus sparing us the detailed accounts of the horror of war.
We know he went. We know he drove a truck. We know he made lifelong friends.
Like the hundreds of thousands of others, we do not know their full stories.
We should not ask
We should simply appreciate them.
Thank you Gentlemen.
