Cygnets

I don't as a rule watch daytime television, but made an exception today to watch the commemoration of the D Day Landings in 1944....... so many sad and courageous stories, so many graves......so many young men lost. We once went to Sword Beach when in Normandy and visited the nearby British War Cemetery. It is an awesome place, and what remains in my memory is the age of most of the men....... eighteen, nineteen, twenty, was not rare. They had no proper adult life. War is cruel!

On our walk in the afternoon we saw the swans with their seven cygnets; didn't manage a picture of all of them together, they kept going off in different directions. However, I rather liked this close up of some of them.

Have had a beautiful day, warm and sunny and perfect for sitting out in the garden; so we did that too! Hope it was nice where you are!
