Alligator

A usual day at work today with a drive to Murupara 60 kms south of Rotorua. It's pine forest country here with truck loads of logs carted out to timber mills or the Port of Tauranga.

I've been meaning to get this shot for a while and today had a little time up my sleeve to wait for a truck or two to pass by.

While you might think this is a blown out tyre (which many are scattered along the roadside) I imagine that the majority are lost caps off a retread tyre. Some may dispute the use of retreads as they can be dangerous when followed and disintegrate.

I'm sure they are effective from an economic reason though.
