Grandparent's Day
Today was the long awaited Grandparent's Day at Elizabeth's school.
To be sure to be on time, we travelled from the mountains yesterday and spent the night in Sydney at my brother's in Artarmon.
According to the web it is a distance of 8km from there to the school at Mosman and the journey should take 11 minutes. To allow for peak hour traffic we left at 8:34 am. 48 minutes later we had progressed to the next suburb of Willoughby - 3km away at a speed of 4kph. I have a photo of the odometer which I was going to blip if we didn't make it. Apart from an overturned car in the harbour tunnel, which was the main problem, there several other incidents throwing Sydney traffic into chaos.
Fortunately we arrived at 9.50am just in time to see the Kindergarten performance which was fortunately last on the program. Then we visited the classroom with other proud grandparents to be shown around by very excited children. Finally, a delicious morning tea.
I do think, though, that grandparents aren't as old as they used to be.
