Lines in the Lake

Man makes such a difference to the natural environment. Here, at Villeneuve on Lake Geneva, he has encased this foreground tributary of the Rhone in a channel. He has built a breakwater to the right to stop boats from entering the Grangettes Nature reserve to the left. He has even built an island (that the Swiss then gave to Queen Victoria) and planted a tree on it to the right of the breakwater. Yet the Lake remains a beautiful reminder of the space created for it by a glacier in the last Ice Age.

Large is here.

A communal "thank you" for all the lovely comments, stars and hearts for the Grand Muveran yesterday, it is a while since I blipped mountains.
