Anvil House, scene of so many weddings, was previously St Ninian's Catholic Church in Gretna, one of several built on the garden city model during Eorld War 1, when the whole town was built within an incredibly short period to accommodate thousands who had come to work at the "Devil's Porridge" munitions plant nearby.
