Oyster Catchers
Although I have been wandering in the University campus for some years now this is the first time I have seen a young oyster catcher.
While watching the swans with their cygnets I was chatting to a couple who had come armed with stale bread. They said that the oyster catchers normally build their nests on the roof so it was quite unusual to see the young ones.
The parents were teaching the young ones how to dig for worms. Unfortunately the 'worm' photos were not so sharp. Once the parent found a worm it was quickly tossed to the young one who tossed it in the air and caught it in it's beak.
