May the world be his oyster
Today we registered BabyCyclops, so now he is a proper official little person as recognised by the government. It was an exciting occasion for us, so we went along to the main Edinburgh city centre office and then had a celebratory lunch at Maison Bleaue. BabyCyclops couldn't join us, but we made a toast to him - "to my son, AWDS, may the world be his oyster."
In other news, BabyCyclops is working hard on his feeding. Premature babies find it difficult to breathe and eat at the same time and so far he has been fed through his nasal tube. As well as this premature babies are very sleepy and not as strong as full term babies.
Well BabyCyclops has reached the golden 35 week gestation equivalent and now we are trying to persuade him to suck things! His instinct is now kicking in and he is starting to make a sucky face when he is hungry. The last couple of days the nurses have been trying him with a bottle. The first time he took 5ml before he fell asleep, then the next time 15ml. Today MrsCyclops had a go at feeding him his bottle and he took more than 20ml which is over half of his feed. So progress is being made and we just have to build up the volume as he gets stronger.
