Not So Grand

One advantage of freezing weather of the last few weeks was that there was more than enough ice on the Lake of Menteith to stage the Grand Match bonspiel for the first time since 1979.

Everything was falling into place, the draw made and the ice being marked out for the 250 or so games.

That was until the health and safety morons got started. With the local authorities and Police refusing to "guarantee" people's safety, the organising committee had no option but to cancel the whole event. To say we're disappointed is an understatement.

Makes you wonder how we all got to 2010.

Looks like this man could do with a visit from the health 'n' safety brigade, going out in this weather without a coat.

Oh wait, he's got a semmit on under his polo shirt.
