Gargoyle - St Mary Magdalene, Stony Stratford

Ummm...I was torn between a technically superior macro shot of a beautiful poppy or this rather poor quality photo which was actually more interesting, especially as the Gargoyle has a leaf caught in it's mouth/spout which makes it look even more strange.

I just wish I had been able to take a better quality picture, it was looking up a church tower from the ground against a fairly bright sky and so was on maximum zoom...think I need some more lessons...you wouldn't believe how many poorer versions I deleted...so forgive the quality!

The church is 13th century and the tower is all that's left after a fire in 1742 destroyed the church, this tower now stands with it's original graves around it and closely covered by mature trees which makes it dark and quite atmospheric. If you're ever in Stony Stratford it's worth finding it, although it's accessed via an alley off the high street so easy to miss.
