Poppy watch 2
I was off to listen to a lecture about the painting and life of Stanley Spencer at Barton Marina and I decided to go via the Farm Shop. (delicious strawberries and cheap cheap asparagus as ever).
I decided to cut across a very minor road from the A515 to the A38 and just as you reach the first roundabout at Fradley (going east - the third roundabout going west) you couldn't fail to notice an amazingly large poppy field.
Stopping and parking for a few minutes was decidedly hazardous. Fradley is home to a huge industrial estate and enormous juggernauts ply these roads at unpleasant speeds, along with lots of ordinary cars and local traffic. Hazard lights on and careful choice of position, I still incurred the wrath of a few motorists but then, such is the lot of a Blipper.
This is the view from behind the fence - it gives a little sense of the sheer numbers of poppies which have developed in the distance - and Lichfield Cathedral of course. This one will be in its prime fairly shortly
As will the one at Wall Island, near Shenstone and the Toll Road junction.....
Staffordshire poppies are taking over once again.
