A CANAL IN DELFT

We set of after breakfast to The Hague. From what we saw it was a concrete jungle. We decided we would catch a tram and go to Delft. This was not easy as the European hockey championship was taking place and the number tram that we needed had been cancelled. So, our journey involved different trams and connections.
We had been to Delft many years ago and the canals and bridges were as I remembered. I bought an old Delft tile (well, from the 1940's, the really old ones were very expensive)

We returned to the hotel after stopping at a cemetery in Steenbergen. The graves of Wing Commander Guy Gibson, leader of the raid by no, 617 (Dambusters) squadron and his navigator Squadron leader W.B. Warwick. They both lost their lives after operating as master bombers on a raid near Munchen Gladbach Germany in a mosquito aircraft in which they crashed on 19th September 1944. They are buried together, side by side.
