Queen Anne's Lace

Morning sun breaks through.
White lace parasols open,
Shading dewy grass.

...... on the morning we headed from home after our trip, gentle rain was falling, but then the sun broke through for a while. Where we were camped was by a long bank of this cow parsley, so beautiful and fresh. I'm not sure why it is called "cow parsley", this is how I have always known it, but is is also sometimes called Queen Anne's Lace ... which is a little twee but rather nice!

Hythe is an interesting place, one of the original Cinque Ports, the old town is no longer by the sea but climbs steeply up what was once a cliff in a tumble of medieval and Georgian houses, and is crowned by a magnificent ancient church of Saxon/Norman origin, more info here if interested. A large part of the foreshore is cordoned off for military use and for rifle ranges ... all quite bizarre, as were some of the notices and signs I spotted.

Posting this a day late .... back home to drizzle and work now....
