MoMA Atrium with Sun Rays
Our NYC outing today was first to the Museum of Modern Art--here is its huge atrium with a sun angle that I had never experienced before. On the floor below is part of a huge exhibition on the German artist Sigmar Polke. But for us the best was a truly inspiring exhibition on Paul Gauguin, focusing on the latter part of his career, including "his rare and extraordinary prints and transfer drawings, and their relationship to his better-known paintings and his sculptures in wood and ceramic," to quote from the MoMA site .
We went on to the Metropolitan Museum in the afternoon--nothing exceptional seen in a brief visit.
