I don't believe it!

To quote a certain Victor Meldrew with whom, so I am told, I share certain qualities.

But before reading any further, please refer back to Recall

A number of us are at DONNINGTON PARK this evening in preparation for an event tomorrow.

During dinner this evening one of my colleagues just happened to ask, had I booked my car in for it's recall work as yet and if so, how was the service I received.

Yes thanks said I. It's booked in for a week in August but the funny thing was, the dealership in Shrewsbury knew nothing about the recall and I ended up scanning and e-mailing a copy if my letter to them!

He then asked why I phoned the dealership and not the number quoted in the letter to which I said that I had tried that number but it was not accepted.

Are you getting the picture as yet because at this point in the conversation, to which another 8 colleagues were listening, I was still totally oblivious?

That's strange, he said. Did you not quote the reference on the letter so they were able to trace the fault with Citroen HQ in Coventry. He then quoted the reference number to me at which point not only did the penny drop but there were guffaws of laughter around the table.

The whole thing was a scam. A very clever one at that set up by my colleague/friend which I fell for hook, line and sinker. One day I will blip the letter so that you can see how professional it looked. He had taken the story of my last car and it's sad demise due to wiper failure, added to it my joy/pride/enjoyment of my new car, and thought he would have a bit of fun at my expense.

No wonder the dealership were perplexed at not knowing anything about the recall. But the fact they have my car booked in for a week in August, with a courtesy car booked to me for the week, is unbelievable.

I will now have to phone them to explain. I hope they see the funny side of it. Wish me luck please!

Mark my words. I will get my own back. Just give me time and watch your back Richard!
