Falstaff
Up in Stratford on Avon today to see Henry IV Part I in the afternoon, followed by Part II in the evening. Great production and acting - much impressed by Antony Sher's Falstaff. Lovely meditations in the second play on old age, in the Gloucestershire scenes with Justices Shallow and Silence - much wry laughter from the audience of a certain age.
Jesu, Jesu, the mad days that I have spent! and to see how many of my old
acquaintance are dead!
