Roman Road !

Many years ago I lived in this area and after moving away, I ended up back here again. I thought I would take Vinnie my daughter's dog, along the same route that my children and our dog used to enjoy along Mere Way, the old Roman road. Alas, this is how I found it and we couldn't get very far. A huge housing estate surrounds it and the A14 and the guided bus route cross it and it looks quite neglected. As it is a public footpath hopefully the foliage will be cut back in due course. Mere Way starts from Cambridge city boundary and is a straight line from Akeman street, becoming a track which the Roman Legions marched along towards Ely and the coast of Brancaster.
