St Didier, Provence

Up early again and completion of packing, in preparation for a day of travel. With 5 people and 6 relatively heavy suitcases, we elected to not tempt fate, travelling on the metro to Gare de Lyon.

Train was at 10.50, but we elected to get the taxi at 9, so we arrived in plenty of time, not knowing it was only a 10 minute ride, which cost 50 euro … So we had coffee and waited, until 10.20, when it was the rush to get on, and get baggage space. Finally at 10.50 to the minute, were off. Upstairs on the train we had an impressive view and in only 2.5 hours, we’d travelled from Paris to Avignon. Amazing.

Disembarking the train, we were met by our Eurodrive car, well the person handing it over, and we were on our way. A very brief intro, no need to see our licenses (“I am not the police she said! ;-) and then we were off, to St Didier to drop off Mamou at her accommodation, we would then head on and find a nearby campground.

Perfect weather and warm, we found the new digs, wow In the country above the small village of St Didier. Views, cheery trees, pool, table tennis, petanque, comfy beds, fridges, pool! The kids were in love. But committed to camping we were, so at 4.30 we headed off to look at a few campsite, including the search for one we stayed at 14 years ago.

To cut a long story short, lovely drive, found old campsite, found a good one to stay at, but Bernadette who owned the place we’d dropped Mamou off, called to say we could stay there if we liked. 450 euro for the week Umm, OK! So back to a little piece of Provence paradise we went.

Arrived, ate cherries, drank wine, on the deck soaking in the view in 25 degrees. Just divine, great decision! And a comfy bed for the night ;-)
