Man in kilt sings

Busy day. First a swim, then cut the grass back and front, making hay while the sun shone.

#3 son and #2 gf were up and about and off to climb Arthur's Seat. Meanwhile I got #2 son organised and we headed north for lunch. A strategic error (NOT getting off at Surgeon's Hall and walking west) meant we were 10 minutes late for the birthday/marathon congratulations lunch at Castle Terrace. It was, as ever, lovely, almost too lovely to eat. I had fizz and wine and an Armagnac and asparagus, plaice, strawberry cheesecake and coffee. He had Innis and Gunn, wine, a clarity cocktail and pea something, chicken and strawberry shortcake.

He left to go off for the remainder of a day that included friends, boxing and another 'Holy Ghosts' gig and I meandered down to Princes Street. It was hooching in the sunshine. People were in the Gardens and queuing for trams. Who would have thought it? And I'm afraid I joined them. Having been taken to see the last Edinburgh tram it seemed kind of right to be on one (well 3 actually) on the first day.

Princes Street to St Andrew Square, St Andrew Square to the airport and the airport to Coates Crescent. There were a lot of long stops, it was hot (they don't appear to be air conditioned), very screechy through the depot and I dozed on the way back. It took 35 minutes from the airport to Coates Crescent, the bus takes 30 minutes to get to Waverley Bridge. I doubt I'll be using them but they will be good for those wanting to go to Murrayfield and the Gyle. And it filled nearly 90 minutes which meant i was back in time to walk up to All Bar One for a drink in the sun with L, J and J before we crossed the road to the Usher Hall for the Gareth Malone show.

It was good, with audience participation, but the programme was a tenner - daylight robbery.

Home on the #47. A grand day out.
