From the dark corner.....

Cone Man in the summer!

What a glorious day! After a greyish week, it was wonderful to get lovely weather when I don't have to work. I had a slightly woolly head after drinking red wine last night but I shook it off and got up quickly to have an invigorating shower.

We wandered up to Ayr Bus Station and caught the X77 to Glasgow. Mom wanted a navy blue jacket and hadn't found one she liked around here so I suggested John Lewis yesterday. I think that was rather good of me as I detest clothes shopping. In the cold light of day, the thought of traipsing round clothes shops was horrific! I was dragging my feet like a sulky teenager which is most unflattering at my old age of 43.

I cheered up on the bus journey though as I got my favourite seat upstairs at the front and I could pretend to be the bus driver all the way to Glasgow! Ding ding! Brrrrrrmm brrrrrrrrmm! Mom did her best to pretend she didn't know me.

Buchanan Bus Station is just across the road from John Lewis so we went there first of all. We were only looking for twenty minutes and three jacket trying on sessions before I - me the person of excellent taste and style HA! - spotted the perfect one which was casual yet elegant. It looked great on mom too and went well with the trousers and top she was wearing so she kept it on and asked the shop assistant to remove all the labels and tags.

Mission accomplished, we wandered to the end of Sauchiehall Street (which always makes me think of Taggert and 'There's been a muuurrrder!'), went to McDonalds (sorry!) and then came back and walked all the way down Buchanan Street and round to Glasgow Central Station where I took a couple of shots but then I thought, but wasn't sure, that I saw someone I used to know so I dived into the Celtic shop and cowered behind a rack of green and white striped football shirts! I could see mom through the window looking confused. She thought I'd fallen down a hole or been abducted by aliens. After a minute, I went outside again assuring the helpful sales assistant that I really didn't need any help - not that sort of help anyway - and rescued mom from an old nutter guy lecturing her on the evils of the world. She didn't cross-examine me thank goodness! I'm 99% certain I was mistaken anyway but couldn't take a chance at the time. Oh well, you have to laugh!

We headed back down the road after that and I took this picture of Cone Man. I blipped it before, but liked the way the horse had acquired a cone too and had two pigeons on his tail!

Bigger cone!

It was a very successful trip and we were quite happy heading back to Ayr.

Track? This marvellous number from 1966 wins the day - Summer In The City
