A Sunny Corner

7pm - the grass is cut, the beer is cold and a sunny seat beckons (well at least for ten minutes) then the sun is gone. Although the garden faces NE it gets the sun all day as it is quite long. It often has a cool air and sometimes a plant will grow on one side of the garden but not the other as the acidity is wildly different. The birdsong is beautiful tonight. We have a glass covered veranda with Roses and Clematis growing up it. A Blackbird has made its nest there and I think the chicks have flown as a Pigeon appears to have taken over now and has been in and out all afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised as Pigeons make such rubbish nests - 2 or 3 twigs, lay an egg then it more often than not rolls out (that if these rather clumsy Avians don't knock it out first). Well this pigeon certainly has a classy place now, sheltered, surrounded by flowers, well made and guarded from cats by large GSD. Oh - and food on tap and Radio 2 can be heard through the open kitchen window. What more could you want?
