Lucky Day

I found this little one crawling around in the grass this morning, probably looking for his brother or sister who was further down the path. It made me think of the many superstitions that surround the ladybird: from it being unlucky to kill a ladybird to it being sacred to the goddess Freya, and therefore is a symbol of good luck. Another superstition states that you should chant the following verse if a ladybird lands on you: if it then flies away again, your wish will come true.

Ladybird, ladybird fly away home,
Your house is on fire and your children are gone,
All except one,
And her name is Ann,
And she hid under the baking pan.

Here's hoping!
