Inis Meain 1

Another gorgeous day and we prepared to get the ferry to Inis Meain, the middle island. We were just killing time and taking a leisurely walk when we saw what looked like our ferry disappearing, an hour before it was due to do so! It was and it had. The ferry company had emailed us but as we had no technology with us, were clueless. No problem, the Happy Hooker (!) arrived a couple of hours later and transported us to Inis Meain. The weather was incredible. Inis Meain like the other two islands, is Irish speaking but unlike Inis Mor this was very untouristy and receives few visitors. It was wonderful and notable for its tiny fields awash with the most amazing wild flowers. No artificial fertilisers here, just families of cows, and an extraordinary variety of alpine and Mediterranean species flourish.
More flowers.
A gentle ramble, a delicious meal from our Guatemalan landlady and a spectacular sunset over the cliffs of Moher finished the day.
