Poor example

Lovely day to day so L and I went to Xanten ( we can't keep away!) and went for a stroll around the Nordsee, there we came across this dinghy, it is one of the Sailing School boats, on board two students and one Instructor. They had got themselves becalmed and were paddling the boat away from the shore towards open water and the breeze. None were wearing Lifejackets or any sort of life saving aid. We have noticed that a lot here, the Germans have the opinion that to wear a swim vest in a boat, or a helmet on a horse, infers that you cannot control either. This is an Insult to their abilities, so such aids are rejected. You will rarely see even children being properly dressed, Standard answer is "They can swim"or "they have been riding for years" Famous last words.
