Contrasts & Distortion

I had a day trip to Manchester today, to take part in Enterprise Futures an event that introduced postgraduate students to the concept of entrepreneurship. It was organised by the three local universities and attended by around 250 students. Great to have such an enthusiastic audience.

The venue was the Museum of Science and Industry - I really live these places! Walking from the train station, I noticed the really tall modern building with the jutting edge, which looks very unstable to me. In contrast, the museum was located in a number of old industrial buildings, including the one in the foreground. I liked the way it had not been tidied up too much, at least on the outside.

I thought that the juxtaposition of the two buildings would make a good image. In addition, as the blip challenge this week is 'Distort', I thought that I'd use some heavy processing to distort the original image. (though I think that the modern building is already rather distorted!)

Taken through glass, which accounts for the odd square shapes across the middle :(
