The last hurrah!

Temperatures are starting to rise here and many of the wildflowers are past their best, but in the brightness of early morning plants are rimmed with a soft light that seems to impart a renewed freshness – if only for those couple of hours just after dawn.

By midmorning, the colours will be bleached out by the strengthening sun and by mid-afternoon only a fool would be out trying to blip dying flowers!

They may be almost gone, but for me these early-morning poppies still have a beauty that lifts the heart and fills a person with hope for a beautiful day!
