Poised

The Koru (fern) is New Zealand's national symbol and stands for new life, growth, peace and strength.

Each year I watch with wonder as these fronds gently unfurl providing statuesque images as they do so. All the detail of the adult fern is contained within the tight curl and day by day it grows taller and stronger unfurling as it does so, revealing the wonderful fresh new growth little by little. Sometimes the ferns stand in a bundle with their curled heads held high just like meerkats sussing out whether there is enemy nearby. However today I noticed these two close together just like twin foetuses, at the same stage of development - everything perfectly formed within the curl of their bodies, poised for their new life.
