such, such were the joys.

Jerome's foot.

I bought a sewing machine today. And his name is Jerome. I don't know why I see objects as being masculine, but it just seems right to give them those sorts of names I suppose. Anyway, he's a Janome machine, so I figured that Jerome was a good enough substitute.

I bought him with the vouchers that John Lewis gave me for doing some of the music at their 150th Birthday. To be honest, I thought that £40 was a bit stingy considering the amount of time I spent doing it - and seeing as they gave me vouchers it wouldn't necessarily have cost them much more to make it £50. But I wasn't expecting any money so I suppose that anything's better than nothing. I've been wanting a sewing machine for quite a while so I thought that this would be the best way to spend them. And he's a special edition, so I managed to get him in red. Which is a bonus.

I haven't really made anything special yet, but I've sewn together the panels for my skirt. I'm doing a sort of patchwork thing with the character materials that I bought a while ago. I always have a really high expectation for anything crafty, but then when I've actually finished it, it always turns out to be a bit naff. So I don't really want to rush anything, meaning that it'll probably be a while until I get properly started on it.

We went out for lunch in Chichester too which was nice, but I ate far too much - as per usual. I also managed to buy a few luggage tags for my trip to Barcelona; they're Lego ones, and I've wanted to buy some for quite a while, so I took my holiday as an excuse and spent £10 on about five tags. I didn't think this to be too bad, but now I have to find things to put the tags on. I also bought some notebooks - you can never have too many notebooks. And they're absolutely gorgeous. We got them from Home Sense, which is a sort of discount shop, so they were also real bargains. I've wanted one of these for quite a while, but they're so expensive - I think I bought it today for about £3, so I'm rather proud. Although the best buy of today was definitely a leather bound notebook (£4!) which now has pride of place on my desk. I haven't decided what to write in it yet though.
