In place of sun
A field of buttercups to bring cheer as yet again there is a grey sky. The forecast for our week in NW Scotland is rain every day - but forecasts are usually wrong aren't they?!
I'm cooking a special meal for our friends who arrive tonight. Mike had his birthday last week and Mr C has his next, so a treat is required. Starting with a cocktail, the menu that follows is -
Chilled Avocado and Cucumber Soup
Chicken roasted with Peppers and Leeks, served with garlic rosemary potatoes
Frozen berries with hot white chocolate and limoncello sauce
It had better not be too convivial as we have an early start for our journey north tomorrow - though I expect we'll have a toast to #2 daughter's good news. All is well at her 5 month scan, and she's to have another son. As a mother of three daughters I can't help feeling sorry she won't experience the joy of daughters. (I know her boys will also bring joy, just in a different way).
