May Sister’s Challenge; miserable
This is no time to be miserable. Tonight we put on our glad rags and take ourselves off to a dinner-dance. Time to get out the posh frock, high heels and pearls. Not sure what Anniemay’s wearing, though.
A dinner-dance is a strange concept for us. Neither of us can dance (mum and dad dancing doesn’t count at these sort of do’s) but we can eat. So we won’t miss out on the entire evening.
Consulting uncle Wiki reminds me that miserable has two meanings; emotion and size. As our emotions are far from miserable, it’ll have to be the other.
These meagre, short, little, small, slight, slender leaves are the first sign that the morbid bug killer has begun its work on this viburnum.
Of course if it doesn’t work then I will be miserable. But not today.
An aside to the educated members of Blip: I struggled over the plural of ‘do’ as in ‘these sort of do’s above. Some advise using the apostrophe because it looks better, others argue against using apostrophes for plurals. I’m sure an English teacher/scholar will put me right.
