A concrete love affair

This is probably the closest Leicester has to a new town, Beaumont Leys, with is array of wide car dominated roadscapes, grade separated pedestrian routes, vast car parks and an out of town shopping centre as it's fulcrum. Some of the architecture is quite interesting with post-modernist nods to the moderne; for me an aesthetic which has been long allied with the car and more precisely the use of the car as a leisure time pursuit. Most interesting that these shapes are echoed in buildings on the site.

It's somewhere I've been visiting for years and have many memories of the place, probably why producing this blip has yield such previously unspoken fondness for it.

Also do see another city I have good memories of, Glasgow's Urban Motorway Landscape
