Beer chiller

We'd been warned to expect 'heavy snowfalls', and the sky certainly had that leaden look to it when I stuck my nose out and thought about fitting in a bit of a walk. No sooner had I put the anti-cold gear on and opened the door again than it began to snow. It was quite windy, so the flakes were swirling around in fine style. But it wasn't much of a fall, really, and was finished in twenty minutes or so. Another twenty minutes after that, the snow was followed by a hail shower -- and then the most extraordinary thing happened: while the hail was coming down, we also had flashes of lightning and peals of thunder. Huh? Very freaky.

That was it for the day, though; just two short bouts of wintry showers. Being Dublin, that was enough to wreak havoc anyway, as I found when I ventured out a bit later. While the fresh snow made it easier to walk on the pavements, the roads around my place were much worse than they'd been yesterday, and it was especially bad on Collins Avenue, the nearest main(ish) route to home. The road surface was like the proverbial sheet of ice, cars were inching along, and getting from one side to the other was a very cagey operation. When I got back home I learned that Dublin Bus had cancelled all services until the rush hour, and all flights into and out of Dublin Airport were also cancelled. All this because of what really amounted to much less snow than had been forecast, so why weren't they prepared? Grrrrrrrr ...

Once again, it was good to get back inside and get a nice hot drink. That was much better than having a chilled can of beer. Definitely.
