Aonach Mor
Classed as one of only 8 hills of height 4000 feet or more Aonach Mor sits next but one to Ben Nevis. In Lochaber the other three are Aonach Beag to the south of Aonach Mor, Carn Mor Dearg connected directly to Ben Nevis by a graceful arete and Ben Nevis. The other four are in the Cairngorm complex. On older maps and books I have seen the height of Aonach Mor quoted as 3999 feet. Current metric height converts to 4005 feet. Mor means big and beag means small yet Aonach Beag is higher. In this case the adjectives relate to the perceived bulk of each mountain. The summit of Aonach Beag is a compact rounded dome. The summit of Aonach Mor is a broad plateau and could accommodate several industrial estates. It was almost dark by the time I remembered to try and capture something. It has been another frustrating day waiting for other people, in turn waiting for other people to make decisions and two current projects are at a standstill and can't be concluded. Totally against the grain but I have had to start yet another exercise today which will have hold points on its path to completion.
