Cut off!!!

We had a power cut about midday. I was just about to send an important email!

The battery has gone on my laptop. No power=no access to my work! No power=no internet for tablet, no phones, no kettle not even the ignition for the gas hob! I did have a match though!

Thankfully I had meetings this afternoon anyway so it didn't matter ... then. Afterwards it mattered as I couldn't prepare tea or get on with some preparation work for tomorrow. I worked down at the church hall for a while but after the evening meeting I was getting hungry. Had to opt for a take away.

Back home and still no power. Knock on the door at 8.30pm "You don't have any power" ... I know! "Sorry, we're unlikely to be able to fix it until early tomorrow morning so we're going to bring a generator in to give you power." "Great, when will that be here?" "It should be with you within the next 2hrs" Not so great!

VERY frustrating evening. Felt totally cut off, fed up, frustrated. Nowhere to go! Couldn't even ring anyone for a chat except very briefly on the mobile which was fast running out of battery! Didn't really have the energy to put the time to use with photos, except for this.

Generator arrived at 9.40pm and took half an hour to set up. Every house now has a trailing cable from the meter cupboard back to the generator. Just in time to go to bed! And the workmen are outside digging the road up, right near my bedroom window! Hey ho.
