At home: the mouse hunt
There has been a strange smell in our kitchen for a while now. Its not being a obvious one. Not the kind that gets you sniffing like a hound dog around the kitchen. Its been a hanging smell. Until recently.
The smell has changed. Its an acrid smell. It darkened in tone. It began to locate between the ceiling, the fridge and the stove. As days past the stench became worse, to the point that furniture began to move. I bleached floors, walls, moved the fridge, disinfected under every unit, in every unit. Overpowering death stench.
Then one afternoon, I sat in the rocking chair in the kitchen. The listened to the fan of the fridge moving air through its chiller. The stench increased. Ive got it!
Andrew bravely donned the mask. I held the screw drivers. We undid the back of the fridge. There it was. A flattened mouse, looking almost like a small carpet rug. Its last dying action to release its dying fluids into the air vent. Gross.
I am thankful that the fridge is a sealed unit and its paws haven't scrambled across my cheese. Thats said, its left its mark, its stench. Its enough to put you off cooler items for a while....until the smell of bleach subsides......x
