Kathakali

We brought this mask back from India last year. It is worn by Kathakali dancers, a 400 year old dance form in Kerala. We were lucky enough to attend a performance and visit the dressing rooms of the dancers to see them putting on their makeup and costumes. All the roles are played by men and often tell the story of unrequited love or betrayal.
