Castle Crag

Day three in the Lakes and the weather continued to treat us, at one point potentially too much as Dad grumbled that it was "too hot to climb" on the way up Cat Bells. It was partially true, but it was a much nicer climb than the last time we did it (it was in a cloud, we couldn't see a thing) and was covered in tourists - a big difference to the previous two day! We didn't continue along the ridge as we'd packed light and just done a morning's climb, getting back to the car and driving down to Borrowdale with a lunch stop on the way.

In Borrowdale we parked up, skipped tea at the Flock-In (again, and it was shut by the time we got back - one day it will be open again!) and headed for Castle Crag. We took a different route heading straight up the side of Dale Head before crossing onto the path running below High Spy and the top of the valley that eventually leads down to Grange. This is west side of Castle Crag and is a climb up loose shale and rock, so Dad passed and sent me up by myself - it was quite deserted and the only other people I saw on the crag were a couple of 80 year-olds (they'd come up the other side!). I mucked around taking some photos, including the above, for the 'Me Time' competition on PhotoCrowd and then climbed back down the other side of the crag, meeting Dad at the bottom - he took the nice walk back down Lingy Bank like a sensible person!
