Harlaw
It was a long day today. Due to issues with trains yesterday, I'd arranged with work that I'd get the first train in the morning and come in a few hours late. So we got up early and headed in to town for the 7:50am train.
By the time I made it back to my flat, the weekend had caught up with me. On contacting work, they had already cancelled everything for me and weren't expecting to see me in anyhow.
The day was spent in a bit of a fog. At about 5pm I got a call from B, did we fancy going to Harlaw? When? We'll she was just putting her socks on. A quick chat with The Boy and yes, we did. A quick run around the house to find things and we were off.
I think a plunge into freezing cold slightly cool water was just what I needed to clear my head. Now in our third season we are learning tips and tricks to make it a more pleasant experience. We have found a little lagoon that is warmer than the main body of the reservoir. We have learnt that taking a cloak not only provides a useful screen for changing afterwards but when paired with a thick jumper, keeps you a step away from hypothermia nice and toasty when you get out. A flask of hot drink is also a bonus.
Friends refer to it as Wild Swimming. I now just call it swimming.
